You'll love our raw, organic cashews (also know as cashew kernels). Eat them plain, or add them to trail mixes, salads, or stir-fry. They also make a tasty, delicately flavoured nut butter.
Loaded with flavour and packed with heart-healthy fats and essential minerals, you simply can't go wrong with organic cashews!
Cashews are particularly high in copper and a number of other minerals that play an important role in our body's health. They are lower in fat than most nuts, and contain high levels of heart-healthy oliec acid (this is the same type of fat found in high concentrations in olive oil)
Copper | 38% |
Manganese | 28% |
Tryptophan | 28% |
Magnesium | 25% |
Phosphorus | 20% |
Cashews contain a respectable 5 grams of protein, 1 gram of fibre, and about 9 grams of healthy fat in a 1/4 cup serving.
Cashews are particularly high in copper, a mineral that is involved with energy production in the body. It also helps support the proper function and formation of bones and blood vessels.
1/4 cup of cashews also supplies your body with about one quarter of the daily recommended intake of magnesium - a mineral that is vital when it comes to bone health.
Like other nuts, cashews are calorically dense and will help you feel full longer than many other foods. For this reason, they may play a positive role in maintenance of a healthy body composition.
Did you know that cashews are not actually nuts? They are seeds found on the bottom of the cashew apple, which grows on the the cashew tree (native to Brazil). The cashew apple is a highly regarded fruit throughout Brazil, but is uncommon in North America.
Because of their high oliec acid content, cashews may not go rancid as quickly as many other nuts.
Store cashews in the refrigerator for 6 months, and up to 12 months in the freezer. Cashew butter should be stored in the fridge after opening.
Cashews are a great raw snack. They are also a favourite in stir-fry, and make a great salad topper. Grind them to make your own fresh cashew nut butter.
These raw cashews are fresh, and taste very very good. Although they are delicious as is, they are also perfect tossed with salt and/or spices (garlic, mesquite, and smoked paprika, anyone)? and baked or dehydrated on low heat until crisp, or for blending for vegan 'cheese' or 'cheesecake'. I highly recommend these excellent cashews, and have already purchased them many times.
Very fresh, I will order more. Thanks for the great service!
